TESTIMONIALS
Arondell Brizan (Bachelors Psychology; 2020)
“Prior to my studies at COSTAATT, I spent years doing short courses in different areas of psychology. Seeing how well I progressed with these programs and acquiring a passion for the field, specifically counselling, I decided to undertake a course of tertiary study that would afford me the opportunity to start that journey. COSTAATT put me in a position to attain my degree even though I was not in possession of A level passes. During my tenure I was able to enjoy a rich and robust curriculum. My studies were not just knowledge based but were also application focused. I was able to track my academic growth from foundation to finish. I can happily say that COSTAATT’s psychology program has given me a strong foundation that I am now pursuing a masters in Counselling Psychology.”
TESTIMONIALS
Marva John Logan (Bachelors Social Work; 2015)
“I am Sensei Marva John Logan, Social Worker, Mediator, Martial Arts Practitioner to name a few, but my most fulfilling role is being an Agent for Social Change.
Over the years I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to pursue my passion for social change in many ways: I have presented for the U.S. Embassy Department of countering Violence Extremism. I am a Peace & Youth Development Ambassador for U.S. Embassy Trinidad & Tobago (IVLP); A Program Manager for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Community Resilience Initiative; Executing Personnel for the Democracy International and currently; Program Coordinator for Inter –American Foundation (IAF).
As the co-founder of Ryu Dan Empowerment Foundation, and Executive Director, I have developed Ryu Dan’s Sports + (Plus) Model, an innovative cognitive-behaviour modification approach that uses martial arts as a vehicle for change through their Holistic Development Programs. I have been the recipient of the “The Woman of Courage” award and have been Inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame for using martial arts as the vehicle to empower youths.
It is my passion for social change that has led me to pursue my BSW Social Work at the College of Science Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTATT), where I graduated in 2015 with high honours. I later became a Certified Mediator, from the Trinidad and Tobago Mediation Board. Where I am to today, my journey at COSTAATT has contributed tremendously. Laying the foundation for not only my social work skill, knowledge, and compassion for the development of humanity but has also added to my personal growth. The diversity of courses really broadened my cognitive ability. The actual projects and assignments we did during my four years, taught me a lot about real life issues – not just in theory, but also in practice. Long hours, group assignments, exams on holidays, and a whole lot of frustration to meet deadlines were all worth it.
Lecturer after lecturer invested their time, energy and shared their experiences with one goal in mind: to facilitate our empowerment. Through it all, lifelong friendship was formed amongst students and lecturers who are now, friends, colleagues, mentors and support network. I say thank to COSTAATT’s dedicated team for investing in me. I am proud to be called COSTAATT.”
