COSTAATT marked a major milestone on Saturday 22nd November 2025 as more than 800 graduands crossed the stage at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya, during a ceremony that celebrated both academic achievement and the institution’s twenty-five years of service to Trinidad and Tobago. Guided by the theme Future Forward, the event honoured the College’s history while charting a confident direction for the years ahead.
Acting President and Vice President, Academic Affairs, Dr. Naseem Koylass welcomed graduands and guests with a reflection on COSTAATT’s evolution from an amalgamation of seven institutions into one of the nation’s most vital providers of accessible higher education. She highlighted milestones such as the College’s historic ACTT institutional accreditation in 2010 and the development of the purpose-built Chaguanas Campus, home to modern science and nursing simulation laboratories. Dr. Koylass also announced the creation of The Dr. Gillian Paul Award for Academic Excellence and Community Service, which will be presented for the first time in 2026 in honour of the late former President.
Senator the Honourable Professor Prakash Persad, Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, congratulated COSTAATT on its twenty-five-year legacy and recognised the graduands’ sacrifices, describing graduation as the result of resilience, hard work and determination. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to widening access to tertiary education, strengthening accreditation and modernising scholarship and GATE frameworks. Referencing the rapid transformation driven by artificial intelligence, he underscored the need for responsible and ethical policy development and encouraged graduates to embrace change, imagine boldly and continue adapting to an evolving world.
Keynote Speaker James Walker, Group CEO and Chairman of Aventa Group and former COSTAATT lecturer, delivered an inspiring address grounded in his own early teaching experience at the College. He praised the determination of COSTAATT students and shared the principles that shaped his leadership journey, living boldly, thinking deeply and “hustling with heart.” Walker urged graduates to recognise their abilities, trust their ideas and step into regional and global opportunities with confidence.
Outstanding performers were recognised through the COSTAATT Partnership Awards, the Library Association of Trinidad and Tobago (LATT) Top Graduate Award, the ACCA Award, and the Radiographers’ Board of Trinidad and Tobago Wilma Collins Award of Excellence.
Valedictory remarks were delivered by Mercedes Mohammed (AAS Graphic Design) and Zoe Laydoo (BA Mass Communication), both from the Ken Gordon School of Communication, Creative and Digital Media.
As COSTAATT celebrates twenty-five years of transforming lives, the 2025 graduation reinforced the College’s mission to empower students with knowledge, opportunity and purpose. The Class of 2025 now joins a legacy of over 25,000 alumni shaping communities, industries and national development as they carry Trinidad and Tobago’s future forward.
