Date Posted

The College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT) successfully hosted its 13th Annual Run For Life 5K & Health Fair on Sunday, May 31, 2026, bringing together approximately 400 runners, walkers, students, staff, alumni, corporate partners and members of the public for a morning dedicated to health, wellness and community engagement.

Leading the field was Nicholas Romany, who captured the men’s title in an impressive time of 15:16, while Alexia Johnclaimed the women’s title in 20:00. The event’s Mardi Gras theme inspired participants to showcase their creativity, with Kirstin Ramroop taking home the prize for Best Male Costume and 13-year-old Mikayla Lewis earning the award for Best Female Costume.

Participants followed a scenic route through Port of Spain before returning to the COSTAATT City Campus, where a vibrant Race Village awaited. Along the course, a music truck kept energy levels high with soca music, encouraging both competitive runners and recreational participants as they made their way to the finish line.

The event extended beyond the race itself through a comprehensive Health Fair, which offered free health screenings, wellness information and opportunities for participants to engage directly with healthcare professionals. The combination of physical activity and health education reflected COSTAATT’s ongoing commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles and supporting the well-being of the communities it serves.

COSTAATT extends sincere appreciation to the organisations that facilitated health screenings and informational booths, including the Ministry of Health – Nutrition and Metabolism Division, the NWRHA Health Promotion Unit, Arrive Alive TT, the Ministry of Health – HIV/AIDS Coordinating Unit (HACU), The Dental Bar, the Ministry of Health – Mental Health Unit, Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago, Value Optical Limited, and the COSTAATT Nursing Department for helping to deliver valuable health and wellness services to participants and visitors.

The College also expresses heartfelt thanks to its sponsors and partners whose support contributed significantly to the success of the event: bmobile, Blue Waters Limited, COSTAATT Student Council, Proman Trinidad, Tru Valu Supermarkets, Holiday Snacks Limited, HADCO, Xtra Foods Supermarkets, Aventa TT, Kiss Baking Company, Scrubs Galore, Bryden PI (Pharmaceutical) Limited, Families In Action, The Dental Bar, and Nadine Leach-Carter.

As one of the College’s signature outreach initiatives, the Run For Life 5K & Health Fair continues to create opportunities for individuals and families to come together in an environment that celebrates fitness, health, community engagement and lifelong wellness. COSTAATT extends sincere thanks to the many participants, volunteers, sponsors, partners and supporters who helped make the 13th Annual Run For Life 5K & Health Fair a memorable and impactful event.
