Counselling Support Service

COSTAATT’s counselling service aims to facilitate students’ emotional and psychological, well-being. We offer a confidential, student-centred space where individuals can explore personal challenges, develop coping strategies, and enhance their overall wellness. Services are provided through individual, group, and crisis counselling sessions, and students are encouraged to access support as needed throughout their academic journey.

Meet our Counsellors!

Dr. Alina Williams

Dr. Alina Williams is an award-winning Clinical Psychologist with 16 years of expertise in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention. Her career highlights include 14 years of dedicated service with the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) and several years as a valued counsellor and lecturer at COSTAATT.

 

In 2025, Dr. Williams was honored with the Public Education, Awareness, & Advocacy in Mental Health Award for her tireless efforts in advancing mental health literacy. Currently serving as the Director of Wellness, Prevention, and Health Promotion, she leads national initiatives that integrate behavioral science into public health systems to improve community outcomes.

 

As a passionate mental health practitioner and educator, Alina is dedicated to building capacity among health professionals and empowering individuals through practical, innovative care. She is committed to supporting students with evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and holistic strategies designed to enhance both mental health and academic resilience.

With over 16 years of professional experience in diverse mental health settings, Ganese Gunpath brings a wealth of expertise to our campus community. For almost two decades, he has been a dedicated fixture at COSTAATT, while also supporting professionals through Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP). He also specializes in anxiety management, helping individuals develop healthy coping mechanisms to reduce stress and prevent burnout; and is a firm believer in the holistic nature of mental wellness, noting: “I believe it is important to address our mental health needs as it often impacts all areas of our lives and wellbeing.”

 

Ganese is dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental space where students can navigate the pressures of academic life and build the resilience needed for long-term success.

Ms Marilyn Jameson

Mrs. Marilyn Jameson, M.S.W.

Marilyn Jameson is a highly skilled Social Worker with over 20 years of professional experience spanning the educational, medical, correctional, and corporate sectors, and has served the COSTAATT community for almost two decades. A graduate of the University of the West Indies, she holds specialized certifications in Critical Incident Stress Management, Trauma Treatment, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

 

Beyond her clinical work, Marilyn is an active advocate in the NGO community, where she facilitates support groups for women and mental health initiatives. She provides dedicated psychosocial support in areas related to:

  • Academic Support & Success
  • Self-Awareness & Self-Care Strategies
  • Relationship Intervention
  • Grief and Trauma Therapy

Marilyn is dedicated to empowering students to overcome life’s hurdles, by empowering them to transition from where they are to where they want to be through compassionate, goal-oriented support.

Group Counselling Sessions

Our Group Counselling Sessions offer a unique, supportive space where you can share, listen, and grow alongside peers who truly “get it.” Whether you’re navigating the pressure of exams, balancing life’s demands, or just looking for a more grounded version of yourself, there’s a seat at the table for you.

Stressed out or simply want to chat? We get it! Sometimes, you don’t need a clinical session, you just need someone who’s currently walking in your shoes to lend a listening ear. Our Student Wellness Ambassadors are here to make sure no student has to navigate the college experience alone.

Who Are the Student Wellness Ambassadors?

Think of them as your campus navigation system for well-being. They aren’t therapists, but they are highly trained peers who understand the unique rhythm of COSTAATT, and college life. They are :

Disability Support Service

COSTAATT’s Disability Support Service is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment for students with documented disabilities. The service provides guidance, advocacy, and reasonable accommodations to support students with achieving their academic goals while ensuring equity and dignity. Support may include, but is not limited to:
