Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – March 19, 2025 – The Honourable Foster Cummings, Minister of Youth Development and National Service (MYDNS), paid an official visit to COSTAATT’s City Campus to view the facilities supporting the AMPLIFY Programme, a MYDNS-funded initiative aimed at providing training and certification opportunities in music and media for youths aged 16-35.
Minister Cummings was accompanied by Ms. Kalima D’hereaux-Williams, Stakeholder Relations Coordinator at MYDNS, and Ms. Athalia Samuel, Technical Coordinator at MYDNS, and was welcomed by Dr. Keith Nurse, President of COSTAATT. Dr. Nurse led the Minister on a brief tour of COSTAATT’s Mac Lab, one of the key spaces where the AMPLIFY Programme is delivered. The tour provided an opportunity to highlight the modern technology and hands-on training available to students in digital photography, video production, and graphic design.
As part of the visit, the Minister engaged with participants of the programme, learning about their experiences and aspirations. He commended the collaborative efforts between MYDNS and COSTAATT in equipping young people with industry-relevant creative and digital skills.
“This initiative is a testament to what meaningful youth development looks like,” said Minister Cummings. “By providing real-world skills training, AMPLIFY is empowering young people to pursue careers in media and the creative arts, ultimately contributing to Trinidad and Tobago’s growing digital economy.”
Dr. Keith Nurse, President of COSTAATT, expressed appreciation for the Minister’s visit and reiterated COSTAATT’s commitment to youth empowerment. “Through AMPLIFY, we are bridging education, creativity, and industry, ensuring our youth have the future skills to thrive in a competitive global space,” said Dr. Nurse.
In appreciation of the visit, COSTAATT presented tokens of gratitude to Minister Cummings, Ms. D’hereaux-Williams, and Ms. Samuel, reaffirming the institution’s strong partnership with MYDNS.
The AMPLIFY Programme, currently in its second cycle (February-April 2025), continues to expand opportunities for aspiring creative professionals, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to youth empowerment and national development.
