As part of its ongoing Engaging the Region initiative, COSTAATT continues to expand its presence and build strategic partnerships across the Caribbean. A delegation comprising COSTAATT President, Dr. Keith Nurse, Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Fayola Nicholas, and Dean of the School of Workforce Enhancement and Development, Lalita Ramlal-Chirkoot, recently met with the management team of Texila American University in Guyana to discuss the future of Caribbean medical education.
Led by Bal Kumar, Director of Projects and CRO at Texila, the meeting provided a platform for engaging discussions on medical education, training, and workforce development in the region. The COSTAATT team had the opportunity to tour the Texila Georgetown Campus, where they explored labs and classrooms and interacted with students—including a few from Trinidad and Tobago.
During the visit, the team also met with Dr. Dheeraj Bansal, Chief Academic Officer of Texila’s Guyana Campus, to gain deeper understanding into the university’s academic offerings and student experience. The visit underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration in strengthening education and training opportunities in the health and medical sciences sector.
COSTAATT remains committed to regional engagement and capacity building, working alongside institutions like Texila American University to advance medical education, skills development, and workforce readiness for the future. Stay tuned as COSTAATT continues its mission of empowering learners across the Caribbean.
