Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago (May 29, 2024): COSTAATT and Vision on Mission (VOM) proudly announce the launch of the Link-Up programme, a first-of-its-kind initiative in Trinidad and Tobago designed to provide formerly incarcerated individuals, deportees, socially displaced persons, and at-risk youth with a pathway to reintegration and success.
The Link-Up programme’s pilot phase kicked off on Saturday, May 25th, at COSTAATT’s City Campus with a launch and orientation event. The collaboration marks a significant step towards a more inclusive society, fostering rehabilitation, reintegration, and empowerment for these individuals.
The event featured prominent guest speakers, including Dr. Baz Dreisinger of the Incarceration Nations Network (INN) and COSTAATT’s Vice President of Student Services, Dr. Helen Cumberbatch. Additionally, key figures from COSTAATT’s Department of Criminal Justice, Human Security and Legal Studies, including Kirwin Pyle-Williams (Chair), Dr. Keron King (Senior Lecturer), and Dr. Kevin Peters (Senior Lecturer), provided valuable insights. Kempson Banfield, Programme Officer for the Link-Up program, was also present.
Tricia Mc Intosh, Faculty at COSTAATT, commenced the programme’s curriculum, which will see participants engage in a 12-week intensive course focused on:
• Understanding Communication, Culture, and Conflict
• The Entrepreneurial Mindset
Due to overwhelming demand, the programme has enrolled 27 participants, exceeding the initial target of 15. This signifies the immense need and potential impact of the Link-Up programme.
