COSTAATT Celebrates Innovation Victory at Pr.A.I.S.E 2024 Awards
Port of Spain, December 12, 2024 – In a momentous achievement, COSTAATT has won the Innovation Category at the IDB President’s Award for Service Excellence and Innovation (Pr.A.I.S.E.) 2024. The accolade recognises COSTAATT’s cutting-edge “AI Connect” project, an AI-driven solution that has transformed student interactions and services.
Introduced in 2022, AI Connect employs artificial intelligence and WhatsApp to efficiently manage over 18,000 student queries annually. With a response time of just five minutes, compared to the previous 48 hours, this technology-driven initiative highlights COSTAATT’s commitment to providing world-class service to its students. The system’s Natural Language Processing capabilities allow seamless communication, ensuring inclusivity and accuracy.
Accepting the award on December 10, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency, COSTAATT’s Vice President of IT and Digital Transformation, Kevin Ramsoobhag, remarked, “This award is not just a win for COSTAATT but for the broader public sector innovation landscape. AI Connect demonstrates how technology can redefine service delivery.”
COSTAATT President, Dr Keith Nurse added, “This award is a significant achievement and provides a stamp of imprimatur for the path breaking work being done at the College. It also signals that the College is focussed on strengthening the experience of our key stakeholder, students and learners who have chosen to join the College in the pivot to a “Future Skills” agenda.
COSTAATT extends heartfelt thanks to the AI Connect project team, led by Darren Headley, Director of Technology Services. We also congratulate all the esteemed nominees who have showcased outstanding projects that have elevated service excellence and innovation across Trinidad and Tobago. Together, these initiatives have illuminated a brighter future for public service, and we are honoured to be part of this journey.
