Programme Description
This programme prepares students to perform as pharmacy assistants under the supervision of registered pharmacists. At the end of the programme, students will understand the roles and responsibilities of the pharmacy assistant and gain an appreciation of the role of professional conduct, quality control and maintenance of a pharmacy. The student will be able to develop techniques in compounding a variety of formulation, they will understand the basics of and will learn how to fill prescriptions (under supervision) and manage inventory. In addition, students will gain an appreciation of the operations of a pharmacy, its safety and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Minimum five (5) CSEC/GCE O’ Level subjects, inclusive of English A and Mathematics, Grades 1,2,3* or A, B, C. *Grade 3 accepted if attained in June 1998 and beyond.
Must be employed in a Pharmacy.
