Programme Description
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) programme is designed to train individuals to respond to medical emergencies and to provide essential pre-hospital care to patients. EMTs are frontline healthcare providers who play a crucial role in the emergency medical services (EMS) system, delivering rapid assessment, treatment, and transportation of patients to healthcare facilities. Through theoretical and practical learning activities, students will develop the skills to assess persons experiencing emergency situations, and apply the appropriate measures until the casualty is transported to the emergency department.
Requirements
Minimum five (5) CSEC/GCE O’ Level subjects, inclusive of English A and Mathematics, Grades 1,2,3* or A, B, C. *Grade 3 accepted if attained in June 1998 and beyond.
Applicants with CAPE passes or GCE ‘A’ Level passes can be considered for advanced standing and awarded transfer of credits where applicable (refer to College’s transfer exemption guidelines).
Mature Entry: Applicants over 25, with a minimum of 5 years’ work experience may also be considered for admission to the programme. Such candidates must submit a detailed curriculum vitae with the application form. The department may also conduct interviews to determine candidate readiness to pursue the programme.
