Programme Description

The Bachelor of Arts in Accounting degree provides students with technical financial accounting skills which are complemented with a solid foundation in business management and general education competencies that enhance workplace performance. The programme is relevant to individuals seeking careers in financial services in a variety of related fields in the public and private sector. Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting will earn the Associate in Applied Science – Management with Accounting after the first 61 credits.
Requirements
Minimum five (5) CSEC/GCE O’ Level subjects, inclusive of English A and Mathematics, Grades 1,2,3* or A, B, C. *Grade 3 accepted if attained in June 1998 and beyond.
Applicants with relevant associate degrees (e.g. AAS in Management with Accounting) and GPA ≥ 2.5 may receive advanced standing.
Mature Entry: Applicants who are over the age of 25, with a minimum of 5 years’ work experience, may also be considered for admission to the associate degree programme. Such candidates must submit a detailed curriculum vitae with the application form. The department may also conduct interviews to determine candidates’ readiness to pursue the BBA in Management and Entrepreneurship. Students using this option for entry must pursue the award of credit for experiential/workplace learning by accessing the College’s Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition Services (PLAR). They will be awarded PLA credits where applicable.
