Programme Description

The Advacned Certificate in Special Needs and Inclusive Education is designed to equip educators, parents, leaders, and advocates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to lead change and innovation in special needs and inclusive education. This programme aims to address the growing demand for inclusive education practices and the need to ensure that all students, regardless of their abilities or backgrounds, have access to quality education. This programme has 2 pathways: – The Advanced Certificate in Special Needs and Inclusive Education or Single Short Courses in Special Needs and Inclusive Education. These courses include: Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities; Monitoring and Facilitating Milestones Development in Children; Understanding Learning Disabilities; Managing Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders; Teaching Social Skills to Children with Special Needs;Teaching Adaptive Skills to Children with Special Needs; Assistive Technology for Children with Physical Disabilities; Alternative and Augmentative Communication; and Assistive Technology for Young Children.
Requirements
Minimum five (5) CSEC/GCE O’ Level subjects, inclusive of English A and Mathematics, Grades 1,2,3* or A, B, C. *Grade 3 accepted if attained in June 1998 and beyond.
Tertiary-level certification from an accredited institution.
