Introduction to Developmental Disabilities

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this course is to introduce prospective teachers and support personnel to the field of special education and the needs of exceptional children who have impairments that affect intellectual, physical, emotional or sensory abilities. The student will develop an understanding of the developmental and learning characteristics of exceptional children and learn about various educational services that have been found to be effective in enabling exceptional children to meet their potential. This course includes a supervised early field placement.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants seeking admissions to this short course must be sixteen (16) years and over.
