Critical Reading and Writing for Journalism and Communication Majors
Critical Reading and Writing for Journalism and Communication Majors
This course is designed to improve your mastery of spelling, punctuation, grammar and comprehension skills, all of which are critical for students pursuing degrees in Journalism and Communication. Media and communication personnel must have superior writing and comprehension skills, including clarity of expression and the ability to accurately analyse and interpret texts. The course will bring you into frequent, repeated contact with material drawn almost exclusively from journalistic sources, familiarity with which will enhance both your comprehension and expression skills. This material will include raw and edited news copy, published editorials and published and unpublished media releases and will facilitate the creation of the kind of input-rich environment without which the process of effective language acquisition is certain to be slowed.
Applicants seeking admissions to this short course must be sixteen (16) years and over.
