COSTAATT President Dr. Keith Nurse is currently representing the College and the Caribbean region at the Culture and Creative Economy Foresight workshop, being held from April 23–25, 2025, at the United Nations Campus in Turin, Italy. The high-level event is hosted by the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO), the British Council, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Dr. Nurse served as a featured speaker in a session titled “Rethinking Skills in Creative Work,” where he addressed global experts, policymakers, and creatives on the future of skills, trade, and inclusion in the cultural and creative sectors.

In his remarks, Dr. Nurse emphasized the need to recognize creative entrepreneurs as strategic economic actors—not merely cultural contributors. He stressed the importance of policy innovation, trade frameworks, and cultural diplomacy in building resilient, globally networked creative economies.

He also highlighted the critical role of diaspora communities, noting their potential not just as remitters or heritage carriers, but as powerful innovators and architects of transnational value chains in the global creative economy.

“We must build creative economies that are inclusive, future-facing, and globally networked,” said Dr. Nurse.

This workshop brings together international stakeholders to apply strategic foresight methodologies to the cultural and creative industries, exploring how they can respond to emerging challenges and shape equitable, sustainable futures.

COSTAATT is proud to contribute to this transformative global conversation, reaffirming its commitment to regional leadership in education, innovation, and cultural developmen
