COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is an introduction to the Latin American region.  Readings, lectures and videos cover a variety of topics and perspectives, including ethnic and racial identity, environmental and economic development, religion, revolution, democracy and political positioning. Examples draw on a range of countries in the region, especially Mexico, Venezuela, Bolivia and Brazil. The aim of introductory studies is to provide the necessary knowledge for understanding the historical development, demographic characteristics, cultures and societies of Latin America.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants seeking admissions to this short course must be sixteen (16) years and over.
